Tongqing CHEN (陈同庆)
is currently Co-founder and Chief Architect at TARS Robotics (它石智航). He was selected for the 2025 Shanghai Oriental Talent Program – Young Talent Project (东方英才青年计划), a prestigious municipal talent initiative supporting high-potential young researchers.
He received his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University. Prior to that, he earned his master’s degree from Zhejiang University and his bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
He served as Director of the Intelligent Navigation Department and Chief Expert of Perception at Huawei Autonomous Driving Solution (华为ADS). There, he led a research team to develop advanced autonomous driving solutions, including Huawei ADS 1.0 and ADS 2.0, which have been widely deployed and commercially applied in iconic mass-produced vehicles such as the AVATR (长安阿维塔) and AITO M5/M7 (问界). He was awarded the 2020 Huawei Gold Medal Individual, Huawei’s highest individual honor (top 1%).
After that, he has also held appointments as Chief Scientist of Robotics at Tsinghua University AIR Institute.
His research focuses on artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, robotics, and physical AI.
